Our Savior Lutheran School Teachers

Our teachers bring a wide variety of teaching experience to the school. They have a vast amount of combined experience, and many of them have served over ten years at Our Savior. Every teacher at our school holds an accredited degree, many from a Lutheran college or university. They bring a passion for teaching and for Christ, and look forward to meeting you and your children!

Principal : Josh Klug

 Mr. Joshua Klug joined the staff of Our Savior in 1998. He taught middle school science, religion, PE, and exploratory classes before being selected as School Principal in 2017.

He graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a BA in 6-12 Biology Education and a minor in theology, and completed the School Leadership Development program through the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in 2016. He played sports at the college level and loves to coach, play softball, and watch his boys play baseball and basketball. In his spare time, he loves to cheer on the Green Bay Packers.

Pre-Kindergarten : Heather Fredericksen

Mrs. Fredericksen is the lead teacher for pre-kindergarten, becoming a part of the faculty in 2008. In Mount Pocono, PA, Mrs. Fredericksen developed and opened a preschool, where she served as the director and teacher. She brought that experience to Our Savior and established Our Savior’s pre-kindergarten program.

In addition to preschool, Mrs. Fredericksen has taught first, second, and third grades. She graduated from Concordia College in Bronxville, NY, with a B.A. in elementary education and a concentration in religious studies, and she has earned continuing-education credits from the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Iowa, and the Area Education Agency of Iowa.

Kindergarten : Viva Sterner

Mrs. Sterner is the lead kindergarten teacher, and after arriving in 1989, she previously taught second and third grades and worked as the Extended Day Care Director. Her teaching philosophy is to be developmentally appropriate, with an approach that respects the individual needs of each child.

Passionate about choral music, Mrs. Sterner serves as the school’s vocal music director, leading student choirs as well as the Christmas and spring music programs. A native of Queens, NY, Mrs. Sterner holds a B.A. in early childhood education from Concordia College in Bronxville, NY. She has sung in choirs since childhood, including The Washington Women's Chorus.

First Grade : Debbie Hambridge

Mrs. Debbie Hambridge, Our Savior’s first grade teacher, joined the faculty in 1989 and has taught first, second, third, and fourth grades. In addition to her B.A. in elementary education from Concordia College in Bronxville, NY, Mrs. Hambridge has also earned a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in reading from George Mason University as well as additional continuing-education credits from the University of Virginia and Trinity College. She also coaches Girls on the Run for the older girls of Our Savior.

Second Grade: Angie Hefner

Ms. Hefner joined the staff as the second grade teacher midway through the 2021-22 school year. She has two sons currently attending Our Savior, and loves cheering for her kids sports teams.

She previously taught at a local preschool, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Special Education through the University of Virginia.

Third Grade : Sarah Klug

Mrs. Sarah Klug currently teaches third grade and has also taught second grade, Pre-K, and was part of the extended day staff at Our Savior. Mrs. Klug joined the faculty in 1998, after earning a B.A. in elementary education from Concordia University Wisconsin. She has continuing education credits from Trinity College. Mrs. Klug enjoys being a coach for the Our Savior Girls on the Run team. She loves teaching in a Lutheran School and being able to share Jesus’s love with children every day.

Fourth Grade : Kristin henke

FIFTH GRADE : GRACE STEARNS

Ms. Grace Stearns joined the OSLS staff in 2022 as the fifth grade teacher after moving from Saint Louis, MO, where she had previously taught third grade. She received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Concordia College - New York and her master's degree in literacy from Webster University in Saint Louis, MO. In June 2022 she completed the School Leadership Development (SLED) program through the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

Ms. Stearns' favorite part about teaching is building relationships with her students through positive experiences and character growth. It is her goal for them to know their identity as a child of God, loved and saved through Jesus and live that out as serving leaders in their classroom and community.

Sixth Grade : Heidi Felton

Mrs. Heidi Felton joined the faculty in 2017, teaching middle school math, literature, and writing in addition to her responsibilities as the sixth grade homeroom teacher. Mrs. Felton graduated from Concordia University – Chicago with a B.A. in elementary education and endorsements in middle school math and language arts.

God has given her a special passion for working with youth, and she loves teaching middle school students because of their endless curiosity, optimism, and sense of humor. She loves seeing students grow in confidence and maturity throughout their middle school years.

eighth Grade : Elizabeth Lee

Joining the faculty in 2006, Mrs. Elizabeth Lee teaches social studies, language arts, and religion for middle school, and she is the teacher for the combined seventh and eighth grade homeroom. She grew up in Michigan and earned a B.A. degree in secondary education with an emphasis in social studies and psychology from Concordia University in Ann Arbor, MI. As a teacher, Mrs. Lee sees a great importance in educating students about the world around them, and she has led youth in service opportunities within the community.

Seventh Grade: kim connolly

Middle School Spanish : IrÈne Harris

Señora Harris was born and raised in Switzerland and moved to the United States in 1990 after getting married. She grew up bilingual, speaking German and French, and eventually added English, Italian, and Spanish to her language repertoire. For over ten years, Mrs. Harris has taught French and Spanish in both private and public elementary schools, and she has tutored French and German at the high school level for over 15 years.

Office Assistant : Lori Bodling

In August 1990, Mrs. Lori Bodling came to work at Our Savior as the school and church office assistant, following in the footsteps of her mother-in-law, Mrs. Bodling. She is a native Arlingtonian, and she, her husband, and their two grown children all attended Our Savior Lutheran School. Before working at Our Savior, Mrs. Bodling served as a civilian for the Department of the Army at Fort Myer.
